How to Disneybound on a Hot Summer Day!

Living in Florida for so long, you soon realize that it is hot almost every day! Most of my closet is comprised of short sleeved shirts, skirts that breathe, and sandals! When summer comes around, it may be so hot at the parks that it may seem impossible to wear a cute outfit all day…

But I’m here to show you that it is NOT impossible! Here are MY tips and tricks on how to Disneybound on a hot day and still look cute all day!

Step 1

  •  Before you go out and buy new summer clothes, look through your closet and see if you have any solid color short sleeve shirts, tank tops, or tube tops! (Basically, any breathable top) Then, see if you have any short/midi skirt or shorts that you can use to create the colors of a character!

For example: Winnie the Pooh is yellow and red. I found a yellow shirt and a red skirt in my closet and used it to color block and create a Pooh Disneybound.

Outfit details below!

Step 2

  •  Once you know what character you are bounding as, find accessories that really make the character come to life! It could be a pair of Mouse Ears, a headband, some earrings, a purse, a belt, etc.

For my Winnie the Pooh outfit, I used my basket purse and a pair of Winnie the Pooh ears to complete the look! The basket looks like one of Pooh’s honey pots or bee hives, and the ears have a bee and some golden honey that really finishes the outfit off!

Step 3

  • Make sure you wear comfortable shoes that won’t hurt your feet when you walk around the parks or make you feel like your feet need air. Most people wear sneakers to the parks in the summer and while it may be comfortable, I personally feel hot and like my feet are suffocating in closed toe shoes. (But that is just me)

My go-to are always comfortable sandals that won’t give me blisters and match my outfit perfectly!

Step 4

  • Now that you are ready to head out the door, make sure you grab a small fan, a small towel, and hair ties or hair clips! These are my theme park essentials on a hot day. Using the fan while walking around avoids excessive sweating and if you do sweat, you have a handy little towel. When you give up because it’s way too hot you can put your hair up! Trust me, I know this from experience!

While spending a full day at the theme parks in the summer, make sure you wear sunscreen, go in and out of the A/C whenever you can, and most importantly: DRINK WATER! Most people don’t realize that you can get FREE cups of water throughout ALL the Florida theme parks! Any place that sells food and drinks and has a soda machine can give you free water cups whenever you ask for them. Our personal favorite is Starbucks because usually they have a water dispenser with the cups right next to it so you don’t have to wait for someone to serve you the water!

I hope these tips help you make the most out of a hot summer trip! Which tip was your favorite? Leave a comment below! And if you liked this article make sure you share it with your friends!

All About Me!

Hi everyone! I’m Stephanie! Most of you may know me from my Instagram page @madebymagic_designs!

I am a lover of all things Disney! Movies, parks, music… EVERYTHING! My parents brought a lot of Disney influence into my life at a very young age. I lived in Puerto Rico and my mom and I would sit and watch Disney movies all day long and would even dress me up as different Disney characters! When we moved to Florida, I was 6 years old and although we had visited Walt Disney world in the past, we were FINALLY Disney Annual Passholders for the first time! I guess you could say I was a lucky kid, because my grandma would pull me out of school early just to go to Disney World.

I was an Annual Passholder all the way until middle school. That’s when I started to dance competitively. My schedule got so busy that it was no longer worth it to be a WDW Annual Passholder. From that day all the way until college, I sort of lost the Disney magic in my life. My boyfriend (now husband) noticed how much I loved Disney and how much it meant to me and got me a WDW Annual Pass in early 2015! From that day, I started making Disney themed bows and eventually mouse ears!

Right after I got my Annual Pass, I opened an Etsy shop and started going to the parks to take photos of the bows and matching outfits. A year went by and more and more people wanted custom-made ears which led me to outgrow my small little Etsy shop!

This is when everything changed!

In 2015, there was a huge trend that would soon change my life! Disneybounding (a trend started by Leslie Kay) was brought up to my attention. I started putting outfits together, styling them to look similar to Disney characters, and matching them to my hair bows and mouse ears! I started posting Disney-styled outfits all over Facebook and Instagram and I was loving every moment of being called “trendy.” Later that Fall, we went to Dapper Day, an event that was rather small back in 2015! My boyfriend and I went to the event Disneybounding as Lilo and Stitch and our outfits were such a hit that we were getting stopped every couple of steps because everyone wanted their picture taken with us! I think that day was one of the most life changing days of my life! Not only was my dress, that I handmade from scratch, getting a lot of attention, but that was the same day I got engaged!

Our Lilo and stitch outfits got so much attention on social media, that we started putting together more and more Disney themed outfits and the rest is history!
